Support for calm local events where conversation carries, doors close gently and the final chair is accounted for.
Overview
Grants of up to $375 support modest gatherings of 8 to 34 people. Funding may cover hall hire, tea, plain biscuits, name labels and the transport of folding chairs over distances that would otherwise feel inconvenient.
Suitable activities
- Local history discussions with no more than one surprising revelation.
- Seed swaps where attendees label the seeds before arriving.
- Quiet demonstrations of knots, folds or proper thermos maintenance.
- Meetings to decide whether a future, slightly larger meeting is warranted.
Conditions
Events must finish by dusk or 8.13 pm, whichever feels earlier. Applicants must nominate a Chair Return Officer and describe how accidental applause will be handled. Karaoke, leaf blowers and ceremonial air horns are ineligible.
